Day 1 began with a trip to Denver for us girls. I hated that we had to drive to Denver to just drop off paperwork, but ended up really enjoying ourselves. Paityn had her friend, Rebecca, stay the night on Sunday so we were blessed with one extra little person on our trip. Before we knew it the girls and I were laughing about the "educational" parts of the trip. We were headed to a place that was right across the street from the State Capital, we drove past multiple statues that the girls enjoyed commenting on and were educated on some Colorado sports as we passed Coors Field and the Pepsi Center. I was so blessed with two girls that behaved amazingly and made my paperwork trip so much more enjoyable!!! The rest of the day was spent listening to the girls utterly enjoy each others company and ended with the two of them playing "mermaids." Who would think that my carpet would turn into water and the tile would become dry land. Oh, to have that imagination again.
This day also provided opportunity for me to be reminded of how my daughter has become quit a mini me... there isn't a place we go that she isn't either taking her embroidery box or a book, usually both. Today as we waited for time to go by to go to Kendra's house, we decided to sit at Lake Loveland and just enjoy the cloudy/rainy weather. Before I knew it, I looked back and found my daughter engrossed in her crafts. Love that about her!
Day 3 was a family girls day. We began the day with a relaxing morning of just Paityn and I reading and watching movies together. We were later joined by my Mom. The tree of us enjoyed a delicious lunch together at Red Robin and then ventured off to go see the "OZ The Great And Powerful." I have to admit that I wasn't sure how much I would like the movie. We were pleasantly surprised as we drove away that we all really thought it was good. Paityn has a knack for remembering movie lines. I think I will be hearing some of that movie for a while. We ended the day with a trip to see Corbin's Mom, Mamaw. After a while of visiting and discussing some crafting things we were off to go home and relax. Paityn and I were so blessed to spend the day with two amazing women.
Day 4 ended up being a bit of a bummer. You see Miss Paityn was told on Wednesday that nothing could be done on Thursday until her room was cleaned. This wasn't just the picking up clean, but the kind where she needs to be aware of Mom's inspection later. Well, long story made short... by the end of the room being cleaned Paityn had gotten herself in trouble for lying. Much contemplation later a punishment was decided and unfortunately that included canceling the plans we had for this day. Needless to say that I ended up with a signed letter that if/or when Paityn gets caught lying again she will have to write "I will not lie" 100 times. Sounds like not much, but I can guarantee, she took it seriously. Thankfully!!!

Day 5 of our "stay-cation" we actually did the opposite of stay. We spent the day traveling to Colorado Springs with Mom and Ervin for the graveside service for my Grandmother, who passed away the previous Monday. Although it was a sad reason to be making the tip, we enjoyed the time with Mom and Ervin. The graveside service was small, and attended only by immediate family. We ended the trip with a lunch that included Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. True to my earlier comment, Paityn had the Kindle and her newest book with her nonstop, even at the restaurant After a emotionally draining day, it was nice to return home. | Henry and Lilly admiring the day. |
