I saw a birthday card this morning that was for a 10th birthday. It commented on the kid being a decade old. Amazing how that thought just stuck in my mind. The thing is... I am not OK that it is my little girl who is going to be a decade old today. I just can't even begin to explain how the time has flown by. I have truly enjoyed watching her become the young lady that she is today.
On Sunday June 1, 2003, I received a call from my doctor at approx 12 pm that told me I had finally received the "all clear" to clean, move around and do anything else that I wasn't supposed to do while on bed rest. You see, Miss Paityn Rylee was going to make her appearance approximately a month and half earlier then planned. No choices, I was having that baby girl that weekend. In so many ways, it seems like yesterday. But at the same time, it feels like forever since that day. Unfortunately for me, Paityn did not make her appearance until 8:15 on Tuesday, June 3rd. Let's just say that I was thankful for modern medicine! Paityn's birth was just as the rest of her life has been, eventful. She decided to keep us all on our toes by not breathing properly. Needless to say, I think that watching her Grandparents stand over her literally counting the seconds between her breaths is something I will never forget. I joke now that she had to slow her breathing when she was born because she was destined to follow in her mothers footsteps and talk so much she can't hardly catch her breath now. On a serious note though, I am so thankful for the little gift that God gave me on that Tuesday morning. It changed my life in ways I never imagined possible.
So many amazing things have happened over the last 10 years. Like everything in life, it is a roller coaster. The ups, the down, and all the loops have made memories that are priceless to me.
I can't talk about, or type about, Paityn and her 10th birthday without getting teary eyed. I am SO blessed to be the mother of this amazing girl. I truly can't wait to see what the next decade of her life is like.
Here is a little of what the last decade looked like through my eyes...
